Laurent Chehere has a background in the advertising sector which can be told because some elements from that style prevail throughout his photographic work regardless of the fact that, photographywise, has tried many ways, from reportage to conceptual. I strongly reccomend to visit his website as the variety of his subjects and the quality of his work go well be yond what is shown here. Today I am featuring a work of his called “Flying houses” which will be shown next October at the “Pingyao 2012” festival in China as well as in the next edition of “Paris Photo” in the French capital. These are extremely creative images and esthetically very well executed. The concept of decontextualization of objects is certainly not new, however it continues to pose a great oportunity to make up interesting creations like in this case. Last April I presented a work called “No way home” by Rafa Zubiria. It’s probably interesting to compare both approaches side by side and see how, regardless of a similar subject, creativity and styles have no limits. Enjoy!

Laurent Chehere ha avuto un passato nel settore pubblicitario e nonostante abbia poi esplorato diversi generi fotografici, dal reportage all’immagine concettuale, certe caratteristiche estetiche dell’immagine commerciale continuano a permeare tutto il suo lavoro. Consiglio vivamente di visitare il suo sito, in quanto l’eterogeneità dei soggetti e la qualità delle immagini vanno ben oltre al lavoro qui esposto. Oggi presento un progetto chiamato “Flying Houses” che sarà esposto il prossimo ottobre al Festival Internazionale di “Pingyao 2012” in Cina e alla Fiera internazionale di “Paris Photo 2012” nella capitale francese. Sono immagini molto creative ed esteticamente ben realizzate; il concetto della decontestualizzazione degli oggetti non è più nuovo in fotografia e nell’arte in generale, ma continua ad offrire grandi opportunità di costruire ‘oggetti’ interessanti, come in questo caso. Lo scorso aprile avevo già affrontato un tema simile con un progetto intitolato “No way Home” di Rafa Zubiria, vi invito a guardarlo di nuovo e riflettere sul fatto che una realizzazione innovativa (nel caso di entrambi i fotografi) non deve per forza coincidere con un soggetto innovativo.
