Justyna Neryng was born in Chelmsko, Poland in 1981. She now lives and work in Brighton, England.
Justyna Neryng’s work is all about portraits. Her characters have a little bit of a “shady” personality, a bit of a “dark” look. I don’t know the personal story of the photographer but somehow I have the feeling that in a way she is letting us see a bit of her own dark side, as if it was her trademark. There are photographers who want to remain as objective as possible with regards to the subjects they are phtographing and the consequent result of their work; Justyna is certainly not one of those. Quite the opposite, what I read in her pictures is a strong prevalence of her own vision, as if all these pictures were selfportraits of herself in different bodies. The first ones are my two very favorite ones, I find them just splendid. Enjoy.
Il lavoro fotografico di Justyna Neryng gira tutto intorno al ritratto. I suoi soggetti hanno un carattere un po’ ombroso, un’estetica un po’ dark; io non conosco la storia personale dell’autrice, ma ho come l’impressione che ella volutamente lasci trasparire quella parte ‘scura’ di sé, quasi come se quello fosse il suo ‘marchio di fabbrica’. Ci sono autori che cercano di rimanere i più oggettivi possibili rispetto ai loro soggetti e rispetto all’opera finita, Justyna non è tra questi. Al contrario, ciò che leggo nelle sue foto, è proprio una forte prevalenza della sua visione, come se tutti questi che vedete fossero autoritratti di lei stessa con corpi differenti. Le prime due sono quelle che preferisco in assoluto, le trovo bellissime. Enjoy.
